Projects - Project Philip

The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus. Acts 8:34-35 (NIV)

Project Philip takes its name from God’s call to Philip in Acts 8. It seeks to provide financial and spiritual support to modern-day ‘Philips’ serving in the Arab world; those who come from sending countries that cannot provide the financial and/or prayerful support that Western workers have. This includes those who come from the Arab world as well as those who come from the majority-world.

Project PhilipKhalil* and Sarah* live in Lebanon with their son Joseph. Their calling and heart-felt passion is to see the birth of churches of Muslim background believers throughout the Middle East. Both Khalil and Sarah form part of our Response Ministry for the Middle East. Their aim is to establish personal relationships with seekers who respond to our Media ministries. Frequently they will be the only contact these Muslim seekers have with Christians. This personal link is essential in guiding Muslims to faith in Christ and encouraging them to meet with other believers.

Khalil and Sarah’s love for Muslims, faith, perseverance, steadfastness and commitment to see Muslims come to Christ is clearly evident in their ministry. Undoubtedly, their labour for the Lord is one of love.

As with the account of Philip, Khalil and Sarah have heard God’s call upon their lives; a call to share the precious gospel of Christ. But their background leaves them inadequately supported both in terms of finance and prayer.

AWM’s desire, through Project Philip, is that together we would acknowledge God’s call upon these men and women and, through our giving and praying, release them fully in the ministry to which they have been called.

We rejoice that increasingly God is calling the Philips of our day from across the Arab world and beyond to serve Him in building the Church in North Africa, the Middle East and the Arabian Peninsula. However, whether from a Christian or Muslim background, these men and women invariably find themselves lacking in prayerful and financial support. This is where we ask you to consider becoming part of Project Philip.
