Projects - Ministry Development Fund

The Ministry Development Fund provides for some essential parts of our work. It enables us to recruit, send and keep our workers in ministry among Arab-world peoples. It also allows us to share about the work and needs of the region, and encourage much-needed prayer from the UK Christian public.

Personnel / Member Care
We work with applicants from initial enquiry onwards. We tackle the questions of when? where? why? and how? with applicants, their church leaders and potential fellow team members already serving in the Arab world. Every effort is made to ensure that the calling is fully explored and the person mentally and spiritually prepared for living in a foreign culture, learning a complex language and dealing with being at the forefront of mission.

Recruitment
We are constantly seeking more long and short-term workers. The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. The Arab world is severly under-resourced in terms of Christian outreach. We want to see the opposite!

Finance
All of our workers depend on the generous financial support of the Church. We help them work out how much they need to raise in order to pay for things like rent, food, travel and education for their children. We provide them with resources (like prayer cards) to encourage others to pray and give. We also arrange important things like national insurance, pensions and medical insurance.

Prayer-raising
Prayer is an essential part of the work. We are immensely grateful for the number of individuals and churches who regularly commit to pray – many who receive and use our publications to intercede for the Arab world. We have one full-time member of staff almost completely dedicated to the role of co-ordinating prayer; that’s how important we consider it to be!

Fundraising
As part of an international mission family, we take our share in the responsibility of raising funds for AWM projects. We do this through publications, meetings and sponsored events. We praise God for His faithfulness as He repeatedly demonstrates that we can depend on Him for all of our financial needs.

Awareness
As the world becomes smaller, the Church is becoming more and more aware of Islam and the influence it has. As more Muslim communities spring up in the UK, so too do opportunities for witness. We want to encourage the UK Church to learn about Islam and how to evangelise Muslims. We run teaching events and regularly feature articles on hot topics. We want to see the Church become proactive, not reactive, in its response to Islam.
